The NDN Changemaker Fellowship 2022 Showcase

This 12-month Fellowship will be offered to 21 Indigenous Changemakers each year across Turtle Island (also known as North America), which includes the post-colonial regions of the United States and the U.S. territories of American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as Canada and Mexico.

Changemaker Showcase: Opening Conversation

The NDN Changemaker Showcase brings together 14 Indigenous leaders from throughout Turtle Island and beyond who are radically transforming Indigenous communities by defending Indigenous lands and rights, developing sustainable solutions for the future, and decolonizing their day-to-day lives, their families, communities and Nations. Join us in this opening conversation with insightful discussions on the origins of the NDN Changemaker Fellowship, featuring words by Nick Tilsen, NDN Collective President and CEO, and Gaby Strong, NDN Foundation Managing Director. And don’t miss a special musical performance by Lyla June.


Changemaker Showcase: DECOLONIZE – Part 1

Indigenous People’s understand that decolonization, or Indigenizing our communities and people is directly related to our ability to prosper. We are kicking off the 2022 NDN Changemaker Virtual Showcase with POWERFUL discussions around the meaning of Decolonizing and the BOLD VISIONS that our Changemaker Fellows hold for the world! As Indigenous Peoples continue to revitalize ceremonies, culture, languages, and ways of life we will continue to strengthen our identities and break free from the oppressive systems that disconnect us from achieving the healing, growth, and connection to spirit that is integral for us as Indigenous Peoples. We continue the discussion of decolonizing in panel two, featuring conversations with Roberto Múkaro Borrero, Naasalthuk Rampanen and Marjorie Kunaq Tahbone. Moderated by PennElys Droz. Changemaker Showcase: DEVELOP – Part 1

We must continue to develop Indigenous communities in a regenerative and sustainable manner, based on our values and connection to land, culture, and identity. As we kick off day two of the 2022 NDN Changemaker Virtual Showcase we’ll lift up inspiring discussions illuminating the work of Changemaker Fellows in the areas of regenerative community development, renewable energy investments, and social enterprise development. There is a duty and commitment within our Indigenous communities to ensure we meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs and prosper. We continue the discussion of developing in panel two, featuring conversations with Amie Charlie, Isabel Cristina Murrieta López and Tsanavi Spoonhunter. Moderated by Nicole Yanes with another musical performance by Mato Wayuhi.


Changemaker Showcase: DEFEND

We must continue to defend our people, communities, and Nations against negative resource extraction that poisons our people, pollutes our water, destroys our land, contributes to climate change, and violates our human rights. In our final panel of the 2022 Changemaker Virtual Showcase we engage in discussions with Heber Uc, Edith Herrera and Andre Perez. Moderated by Sarah Sunshine Manning, with a finishing performance by Mato Wayuhi.
